Sustainable Development Goals
To formalize our sustainability mindset, we established the Medina Development Foundation in 2002. This would serve as our vehicle to structure various social and charitable programs for the people of the Municipality of Medina, Misamis Oriental and other neighboring communities. The Medina Development Foundation is firmly hinged on three core pillars; philanthropy, agri-business development and the value of charity. At the heart of its mission, is to substantially contribute to poverty alleviation through livelihood creation, education, health and spiritual formation.
First, we maintain organic demo-farms to train local farmers to seed, grow and harvest different variants of organic produce, which they can sell later on to us or other prospective buyers to augment their household income.
Second, we grant academic scholarships to deserving students, and at the same time organize book and school supply drives. In addition, we sponsor the renovation of selected classrooms to promote a more conducive learning environment. Moreover, we pioneered Medina’s weekend English, Math, and Science proficiency classes for grade school students.
Third, in partnership with doctor associations, we conduct medical and surgical missions for community residents. In 2020, Axelum started the construction of a 100-bed secondary care hospital that will offer access to professional, quality and affordable medical services to host and surrounding communities.
