Axelum offers above-average industry compensation to its people. Aside from government-mandated benefits, we provide our workers with health insurance, housing assistance, bereavement support, flexible work arrangements and various types of individual loans at zero-interest amortization.
People Development
We believe that investing in our people will result to enhanced productivity, stronger motivation and employee retention. We regularly offer various training programs including in-house modules or external courses to harness individual talent and skills.
For 2021, employees underwent an average of 24 hours of individual training conducted internally and off-site. In addition, the Board of Directors and Key Officers completed a short course on Crisis Management and Responsibilities of the Board.
Occupational Safety
Ensuring a safe working environment is of utmost priority. At this time, all employees and workers are required to wear personal protective equipment, face masks, face shields and strictly observe intensified health protocols. A 24-hour medical clinic is located within plant premises to respond to health emergencies. In addition, we adopt the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) principles to adhere to the highest standards of best practices on labor, health, safety and ethics.
In 2021, Axelum registered a total of 12,372,264 safe man-hours with zero work-related fatalities. Moreover, the Medina Reaction Team conducted weekly fire and safety drills including joint exercises with the Bureau of Fire Protection.
Human Rights
We are cognizant of the need to uphold the basic rights and dignity of every person. We have established a sound working environment, guided by policies that promote fair and equal treatment. As a Sedex member, we are compliant with the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Codes that espouse practices on freedom of association, anti-child labor, non-discrimination, paid living wages, regular employment and working hours, safe and hygienic working conditions, among others.
In 2021, there were no reported violations related to human rights.
